BWCBakersfield Writers CultPages. Pressure. Permission.

Code of Conduct

Keep the room brave, useful, and welcoming.

The goal is not to make every room soft. The goal is to make every room trustworthy enough for real work. Honesty is welcome. Cruelty is not craft.

Feedback

Respect the writer and pressure the work.

Critique the page in front of you. Do not attack the writer, mock the subject, or turn feedback into performance.

Specificity

Be useful.

Name what works, where you got lost, what the piece seems to want, and what revision could sharpen.

Room

Make space.

Do not dominate workshops, dismiss genres, or treat taste as law. Curiosity keeps the room alive.

Ownership

Do not steal work.

Member drafts, ideas, critique notes, and private messages stay with their writers.

Boundaries

Respect private contact.

Use the site messaging/contact request system. Do not expose private emails or pressure members outside the tools.

Safety

Report problems early.

The Safety Desk exists so moderators can investigate issues before they rot the room.
